People’s Choice Awards 2017

You can find the full nominees here.

Of course, there are certain categories that will be very exciting to watch this year. Favorite Movie is a big category every year, and we have some very strong contenders with Captain America: Civil War, Deadpool, Finding Dory, Suicide Squad, and Zootopia.

Out of these, I feel like Finding Dory and Zootopia don’t have much of a chance considering they are not quite the target audience of the PCAs. Suicide Squad was a flop by both industry and consumer standards so it is also an unlikely choice. I think this award will go to either Captain America or Deadpool, with Captain America edging forwards a little on the coattails of Chris Evans. Therefore, it goes without saying that Chris Evans will most likely win Favorite Action Movie Actor.

In terms of Comedic Movies, I’m rooting for Neighbors 2. It is the only movie sequel in the category therefore it automatically has a larger fanbase.

Now let’s talk about TV!! And let’s all be honest here. The days where movies were more prestigious than TV are long gone. TV actors and movie actors are making around the same money, especially if you factor in the fact that TV is on a steady schedule. In fact, I reckon that a lot of the TV stars are making more dough than movie stars these days.

Anyways, in Favorite TV Show, we have got The Big Bang Theory, Grey’s Anatomy, Outlander, Stranger Things, and The Walking Dead. First, can I just point out how surprised I am that Grey’s Anatomy still runs? Literally every person I talk to these says tell me they can’t believe the show is still on, that it is slow as molasses, and that the plot points have gotten more and more ridiculous. Someone please put the show out of its misery. The Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, and Outlander are all shows that have
been running for a while and have a good
following so I will not try to rank them. However, this year saw a huge surge of support for Stranger Things. This is the hottest show to watch, the hottest show to discuss and, definitely the hottest choice to win.

And I will just quickly point out Supernatural and Jensen Ackles‘ respective nominations. I hope you all voted cause I will be very upset if they don’t win. Historically, Supernatural always wins Favorite Fantasy TV Show, but Jensen’s win isn’t as sure given the volatile relationships within the fandom. *sigh* (that stuff needs a whole other post to explain.. perhaps I’ll write it sometime xD)

And last but not least, I want to talk about Late Night Talk Shows. James Corden has been killing it this year and he is definitely going to win. Still, it can’t hurt to talk about him a bit more. Here’s a link to his best segment: Carpool Karaoke.

The results will be announced Jan 17th, 2017! Don’t forget to tune in!!
